Yankees-Phillies Spring Training: How to Watch Online

Baseball is back! Spring training games have finally started, and the New York Yankees will play the Philadelphia Phillies in some of the first meaningful baseball action on TV this season.

Among those in the lineup for New York is their new designated hitter, Matt Holliday. The Yankees will also field a number of prospects in their first training game, such as Clint Frazier and Jorge Mateo. Bryan Mitchell will pitch for the Yankees and the Phillies have Alec Asher on the mound.

The game is Friday, February 24, and first pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. ET. from Tampa, Florida. Want to watch all of the action online on your mobile device or desktop computer? The game will be broadcast on the MLB Network starting at 1 p.m. ET.

In addition to the game being on MLB Network, it will also be streamed on MLB.TV for subscribers.

This spring training game is not available on TV in local markets in Philadelphia, but there are still other ways to watch and listen. 94WIP, the flagship station of the Phillies, is broadcasting the game and Gameday Audio through MLB.com can be listened to online here.

The service does requires a subscription, which costs $19.99/yearly, but gives fans audio access to every regular season and postseason game live, with the ability to choose from home, away or alternate radio.

If You Want to Watch Online on MLB.TV

The cost to subscribe for a single team is $87.49 annually. That subscription includes a single team’s out-of-market regular season games all live and in high definition. That package includes about 300 spring training games, as well as all of the 2017 World Baseball Classic games.

If You’re in the New York TV Market

If you’re in the New York TV market, you can watch YES network broadcast through Sling TV, an online streaming service that provides access to select channels for a monthly fee. The service’s Blue service, which includes YES, costs $25 a month. But if you’re looking for a way to watch the game for free, you can do so with Sling’s free 7-day trial.

To sign up for Sling, follow these steps:

1. Click here to sign up for Sling TV. You’ll need to enter your credit card information when signing up, but if you cancel your subscription before the trial period ends, you will not be charged.

2. When you sign up, select Sling’s Blue service, which costs $25 per month.
