Amanda Leigh and Joshua Bell are taking on “Nicaragua Nightmare” on tonight’s episode of Naked And Afraid. Read on for the facts on the two survivalists.
1. Amanda Leigh Is a Nomad

Amanda is a nomad, so her current address is the United States. Though she doesn’t have a place she necessarily calls home, she was raised in Texas … all over the state. Her Discovery bio reads:
Amanda is a born adventurer and never one to turn down a challenge. She was raised all over the state of Texas, where she quickly learned to adapt to ever-changing environments. Always being the new girl in town, Amanda spent a lot of time with her face buried in books or playing in the outdoors and discovering new hobbies.
2. Josh Is a US Marine Corps Veteran

Josh was in the marines and currently spends a great deal of time hunting. Discovery bio writes:
Right now, Joshua has a small gunsmithing business, and spends a lot of time hunting whatever is in season. He loves to cook freshly harvested game, and does so every chance he gets.
Before coming on the show, Joshua decided to quit smoking and it greatly affected him on the show. He was vomiting constantly and very dehydrated. On day 5, he decided to leave the show. This left Amanda with 16 days on her own for the longest amount of time any survivalist on the show has been left alone.
3. Upon Moving to California, Amanda Really Embraced her Love for the Outdoors

Once Amanda graduated college, Amanda decided to move to California and became very involved in the outdoors. Reportedly, Amanda joined a group that trained in rappelling, canyoneering, rock climbing, kayaking, and anything else involving extreme outdoor adventures. With the help of the group, Amanda learned many skills and greatly enjoyed being away from modern technology.
4. They Have Mastered the Duct Tape Bikini
Joshua brings some duct tape to the swamp and Amanda decides that she needs a duct tape bikini. Have a look at the clip in the above video.
Aside from making duct tape bikinis, Amanda is involved in a host of different jobs, hobbies, and interests. Discovery writes:
Currently, Amanda has the most incredible job in the world where she is paid to play with animals of all kinds all day, every day. She is involved in triathlons, Tough Mudders, and any themed 5k out there. She enjoys a variety of different hobbies: cross-stitching, crocheting, reading, playing the flute, and anything that involves being active.
5. Joshua Is a Country Boy Used to Living Off the Land

Joshua was born in Florida, moved to South Carolina and ended up in Roxboro, North Carolina at age 6. According to his Discovery bio, Joshua is used to living off the land.
Survival is his way of life, since Joshua lives pretty far outside of town. Growing up, his family took what they needed from the land, and bought the rest in town. They grew fresh vegetables, hunted, and fished.
