Oh God. In a shocking Facebook post sent out just before April Fools’ day, former Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann drew a comparison between the President of the United States and Andreas Lubitz. Lubitz is the deranged Germanwings pilot who intentionally flew his passenger plane into the French Alps killing 149 innocent people. The former rep wrote:
With his Iran deal, Barack Obama is for the 300 million souls of the United States what Andreas Lubitz was for the 150 souls on the German Wings flight – a deranged pilot flying his entire nation into the rocks. After the fact, among the smoldering remains of American cities, the shocked survivors will ask, why did he do it?
Bachmann made the ludicrous accusation in light of President Obama’s deal with Iran over nuclear development. Now, there is definitely an argument to me made against the U.S. doing any deals with the Iranians but in making such a ridiculous comparison, Bachmann has completely removed logical debate from the issue. One of her possibly enlightened supporters commented on her claim saying, “[Obama has] been indoctrinated in hating America his whole life, the things that we cherish, freedom, equality, pride, are abhorrent to him and his ilk, that’s why.”
