Magic: The Gathering to Become a (Nonfantasy?) Movie

1267636965_magic.jpgHasbro CEO Brian Goldner told MTV that the movie adaptation of popular card game “Magic: The Gathering” might not be limited to a fantasy genre. The reason being that the “planeswalkers” of the game’s framework don’t exist in a specific time or location.

For those of you unaware as to what the hell he’s talking about, a planeswalker is a powerful wizard that can move between differently dimensions including time and space. The player of the game is a planeswalker and their deck of cards represent their abilities. Okay. Enough Jolt and Funyuns.

Basically, due to the obviously complex nature of these planeswalkers, the film can take place in a range of eras. So it could take place in the present day, back in King Arthur times or even in the future if they wanted to. So maybe these planeswalkers will take on some invading aliens to save Earth.
