Alamo Drafthouse Becomes Film Distributor

Alamo Drafthouse

Beloved Austin, TX based theater chain Alamo Drafthouse has announced that it is entering the film distributing game. It’s first release will be the critically acclaimed black comedy Four Lions.

Four Lions, a satire about four bumbling would-be Islamic terrorists, premiered at Sundance this year. There has been a lot of talk about the film ever since, but no studio has stepped up to pick up distribution rights because, lets face it, a comedy about terrorists is a hard sell in the heartland. No one bought a ticket to watch Rendition, and that had dreamy Jake Gyllenhaal on the poster.

Four Lions will kick off a 10 city promotional screening tour with the director, Chris Morris, in attendance in mid-October. The film is slated to be released this fall in New York, Los Angeles, and Austin and will expand wider in the coming weeks.
