What’s New In Games This Week

Even though we’re in the midst of summer, it’s a fitting time to go back and remember the college days: going to football games, destroying brain cells, and science experiments that net hot chicks who explode at the slightest touch due to volatile skin. Basically, everyone’s sophomore year at Berkley.

At this point, an authentic pigskin tossing experience in video game form is not only something one hopes for, but is pretty much a given. Anything else is simply not going to cut it, so the latest NCAA simulator from EA does its best to enhance the already rock solid foundation by adding even more crowd-pleasing flourishes. Animations looks more real, and the environments feel more authentic, with team specific cheering sections and cheerleaders. There’s a new coach mode where players can make the calls, adjust ones given already, plus Road to Glory has also been expanded upon. Instead of guiding some hopeful into just the high school playoffs, this time you’ll follow him into his entire senior season. Xbox 360, PS3

Time once again for another brand new downloadable case for Cole Phelps, but this one is perhaps the most noteworthy, because it features the sweet leaf that always leads to a good time. Too bad Detective Phelps, and yourself, have a job to do, i.e stamping out the menace that is marijuana, which threatens to corrupt the City of Angels. Now you too can be part of history and see how the LAPD was able to nearly stamp out the wacky weed menace that has been part of Los Angeles ever since. Xbox 360, PS3

The sequel to 2009’s hit Xbox Live Arcade hit is finally here. Much like that other famous miss from gaming, the little lady here is much like her bf; made entirely out of volatile matter. And you’ll need to blow yourself up real good to get out of sticky situations and solve all sorts of other puzzles. One big addition, is the ability to venture out in the real world, though the real star of the show is a new multi-character mode, despite it being still a single player game; 2 Girls and 1 Controller has you controlling both the new hottie and her man at the same time.
