Ariel Winter, one of the stars of ABC’s hit show Modern Family, began participating in a hearing today regarding who should have custody of the 14-year-old actress.
Winter was taken from her mother, Chrisoula Workman, after the mom was accused of physical and emotional abuse by social services.
According to E!:
Ariel is in a great place. Very safe and very happy, in a healthy family environment with unconditional love and support.”
E’s report states that some of those who will be heard during the proceedings will be family friends, colleagues, and Winter’s pediatrician.
Winter’s sister Shanelle Workman is fighting for custody of her younger sibling. Workman is an actress herself having starred in soap opera One Life to Live.

Winter’s brother, another actor, Jimmy Workman, who is most famous for his role as Pugsly in the 1990s Addams Family movies, has claimed he is “not taking sides” according to TMZ.
But, oddly, Workman goes on to state that regarding his sister, “Shanelle Gray is not the right person to have custody of my younger sister Ariel.”

Hmmm, hopefully for the sake of the 14 year old Ariel we hope this one is resolved soon.
