The nominees for the 2013 BET Honors have officially been announced and Halle Berry and Chaka Khan are among them. Every year, BET celebrates distinguished African Americans for performing at exceptional levels in the areas of music, literature, entertainment, media, service and education.
Berry is an Oscar winning actress and Chaka Khan is an award-winning jazz and R&B singer. Others nominees include basketball star Lisa Leslie, music executive Clarence Avant and religious leader T.D. Jakes.
The event will take place in Washington D.C. at the Warner Theatre on Feb. 11 where Actress Gabrielle Union will host. Past honorees have seen Maya Angeou, Whitney Houston and Queen Latifa.
