Colombian pop-star Shakira and her husband, Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique, officially announced the birth of their healthy baby boy, Milan Pique Mebarak, on Tuesday at 9:36 p.m. local time. The couples first child was born at a Barcelona hospital and weighs 6 pounds and 6 ounces.

Over seven hours later, she posted the following to her website:
“We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 22nd at 9:36pm, in Barcelona, Spain.”
“The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.”
Milan is Sharkira and Gerard’s first child. The hospital confirmed and added that both the baby and mom are “in excellent health.”
