Oscar’s bastard child the Golden Globes are just a week away. It’s a chance for the ugly people of television to rub shoulders with the beautiful folks of the movies, and this year’s hosts are Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. A stellar choice for hosting the awards show, they’re two of the funniest women on TV right now and a safe bet compared to last year’s host, Ricky Gervais. Not that Ricky Gervais isn’t funny, they guy is hilarious, but asking him to host an award show full of uptight celebrities is like playing drums with sticks of dynamite.
The pairing of Tina and Amy as the Globe hosts is a fairly safe bet for a non-offensive monologue, but still guarantees the delivery of funny jabs at The Hunger Games and bad reality TV. Win, win.
