Kardashians Sue Ex-Stepmom: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

Kardashian Siblings

The Kardashian siblings are locked in a legal battle with Robert Kardashian’s widow, Ellen Pearson, who has revealed telling portions of his diary — a diary his children claim belongs to them as the legal heirs. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Kardashian clan claims Pearson has illegally been feeding the tabloids juicy details of their private lives contained Robert’s writings. Here’s what you should know about the case.

1. Pearson Has Been Giving Secret Information to Tabloids

The widow of O.J. Simpson’s lawyer has been leaking very personal information about the Kardashian clan’s lives before they became reality stars. The items in her possession include the diary, family photo albums, and a family holiday photograph. Pearson licensed portions of the diaries and photos to Bauer Publishing, which owns In Touchh and Life & Style, where they were first published. Pearson told Inside Edition that Robert gave his blessing for her to release the information whenever she thought the timing was right. “I think his side of the story should be told. I think he went through a lot of hurt, and a lot of anguish,” Pearson said.

2. The Kardashian Kids Say the Diary Belongs to Them

The Kardashians filed a lawsuit against Pearson for holding secret information and unlawfully exploiting them. The complaint contends that all of Robert Kardashian’s personal belongings, including the diary, were to be inherited to his four children — Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Rob Kardashian. The Kardashians said Pearson was only hiding Robert’s personal items in order to capitalize and expose the past of her late husband’s family.

3. Pearson Claims Kris Was a Horrible Mother

Among the personal information that Pearson obtained are indications that Kris Jenner physically abused Kourtney and Kim and threatened to kill Kim. TMZ reports there was also information that young Rob was locked in a car once while Kris was on a date. In a February issue of In Touch, Ellen said, “The girls are scared and nervous, have been beaten up several times before and are very, very intimidated.”

4. Pearson Filed for Bankruptcy but Did Not Disclose the Diary

In 2010, Pearson filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and was required to give up all of the assets and property that she acquired from her late husband. However, Ellen did not disclose her possession of the diary and the photos. The Kardashians complaint states that Ellen therefore doesn’t own those items; otherwise, she defrauded the court by failing to disclose them. Now the clan are acting upon the charge they filed in January, demanding that Ellen pay for the damages she’s caused after releasing contents from the controversial items.

5. Kris Jenner Wasn’t Included in the Will

Robert’s will states that his children would inherit his personal items, but he did not include his ex-wife Kris in the will. However, Kris is still listed as a plaintiff.

TMZ asks:

It’s curious — Kris is NOT suing Ellen for defamation, for putting the brutality allegations out there. So the questions — did Robert Kardashian make the allegations against his ex, and are they true?
