DMX was arrested on Tuesday night in South Carolina and cited for marijuana possession, making it the third time this year the rapper has been arrested, reports TMZ.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was a passenger in a F350 truck when police pulled the vehicle over for making an illegal U-turn. Cops searched the car and found a bag of marijuana sitting on the armrest where DMX was sitting and found three more bags under the driver’s floorboard. The cops also noticed a warrant out for the rappers arrest and told took him into custody.

DMX claims he had no idea that the pot was in the car and became “very aggressive with his words and was making multiple idle threats,” according to a police report.

“Although officers pulled them over for a minor traffic violation, DMX was asked to step outside so they can search the vehicle,” said the rapper’s rep, Domenick Nati. “Officers then claimed that they found bags of marijuana in the floorboard and arrested X. No drugs were found on DMX or the other passengers and the alleged bags of marijuana were never shown to DMX or the other passengers.”

DMX was released from Greer County jail the next morning, but put on house arrest at his South Carolina home. It’s unclear how long he will have to remain there.

The rapper was arrested two other times this year, both stemming from violations of driving without a license. He was also arrested in 2011 on charges of speeding after officials said he was driving 102 miles per hour in a Phoenix suburb. DMX has faced various other criminal charges in the past, including probation violation, illegal drug possession and animal cruelty.
