Recently, Clint Eastwood and his wife of 17 years, Dina, have separated. As of Tuesday, October 22, 2013, Dina has filed for divorce. Here are the 5 Fast Facts on the sad news as well as on the wonderful Dina Eastwood.


1. Dina Is Seeking Full Custody in the Divorce

According to The Washington Post, Dina filed for divorce on October 22, 2013, citing irreconcilable differences in Monterey County Superior Court in Carmel, California. Currently, Dina is seeking spousal support and full custody of their 16-year-old daughter Morgan.

Clint Eastwood and Wife Dina Separate After 17 Years of Marriage

A source says that the split was an amicable one and that the two remain close, but have been apart for some time now.

This divorce comes as a surprise to many as Dina had withdrawn her papers for legal separation on October 7, 2013.


2. Clint Met Dina When She Was a Journalist

Dina Eastwood is an accomplished journalist and she actually met Clint while on the job. The two met when she was assigned to interview Clint for her TV news station. Wikipedia describes Dina’s career in the following paragraph:

In 1990, Ruiz was hired as a reporter, and eventually a news anchor, for KNAZ-TV in Flagstaff, Arizona. About a year later, she was hired at KSBW in the Monterey-Salinas, California market as a news anchor. She retired in 1997. On February 8, 2011, as Dina Ruiz-Eastwood, she returned to anchor the 5 p.m. newscast with weeknight anchor Dan Green. In 1998, Ruiz-Eastwood was host of a television show that was put together by the California Teachers Association. The show, A Quest for Excellence, featured students, teachers, and administrators and their daily challenges.

Dina even played a reporter on-screen in a couple of Clint’s movies, True Crime and Blood Work.


3. Dina Starred in the Reality Show Mrs. Eastwood and Company

If you’ve ever seen Mrs. Eastwood and Company, then you fell in love with Dina Eastwood. She has such a great spirit about her. She’s fun, creative, modest, and a great humanitarian. 4. She Is Supportive of All Clint’s Children

Raised in Fremont, California, Dina wasn’t born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Her father was a teacher and, like her father, Dina is a hard-worker who still knows the value of a dollar.
