Reps for both stars have spoken to People and released this statement:
Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs have jointly decided to separate at this time. Their primary focus and concern is for their son. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time.
2. Menzel Has Admitted That Their Marriage Hasn’t Been Easy
Apparently, when asked about her marriage to Diggs, Menzel had previously stated:
We work at it. I’m not going to glamorize it or glorify it – we go through tough times like everybody else, but we love each other very much. We try not to be away from each other for more than two weeks at a time, and we try to find new ways to communicate.
3. The Couple Met While Doing Broadway

The two met as co-stars in the original production of the Broadway musical Rent in the mid-1990s and began a romance together. Menzel is actually a Tony Award winner for the broadway show Wicked and you’ve probably seen her in movies like Enchanted, where she plays Patrick Dempsey’s girlfriend. Menzel also guest-starred on the show Glee.

Diggs and Menzel were married in January 2003, over 10 years ago, so the news of their separation comes as a surprise to many.
5. Their Son is Their Top Priority Right Now
The couple have a son named Walker, who was born in 2009, and they insist that their son is their top priority right now. ABC reports Diggs talking about his father pride a little while ago saying:
Let me tell you, his diapers are no joke,” he said. “I’m such a proud father that I’m like, ‘Good for you! Good for you little man!
