A-list couple Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay’s Chris Martin have announced that they are separating after over 10 years of marriage. Read on for the facts.
1. The Split Was Announced on Paltrow’s Website

Gwyneth Paltrow actually announced her separation from husband Chris Martin on her website called Goop.com. She titled the subject “Conscious Uncoupling” and “It is with hearts full sadness that we have decided to separate.”
According to CTV News, the couple continues to talk about their “uncoupling” and uses the word “divorce” twice. While the public may be shocked, insiders have said that the couple has been “pretending” for quite some time. Radar Online writes:
While many were taken aback by the news — Paltrow’s blog crashed due to an onslaught of traffic from people wanting to see it for themselves — one source told the New York Daily News that the split “should surprise no one,” and that Martin and Paltrow “haven’t been a couple for a number of years and have been pretending for the sake of the kids and each other’s careers.”
2. Gwyneth Paltrow Says They’ve Been Working on Their Relationship for a Long Time
On Paltrow’s website, she said that the couple had been struggling with their relationship for about a year.
We have been working hard for well over a year, so of it together, some of it separate, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.
The couple has two children together, Apple Martin and Moses Martin.
3. Their Marriage Has Suffered Rumors of Paltrow Cheating
Previously, Paltrow had been accused of cheating with entertainment lawyer Kevin Yorn. Paltrow was also said to have had an affair with billionaire Jeff Soffer, who is currently married to Elle Macpherson. Paltrow has denied all of these claims.

4. Last Year Martin Tried to Buy a House Separate From Paltrow
Apparently, this same time last year, Martin tried to buy a separate residence from his wife. TMZ reported it.
In March, 2013, TMZ broke a story Chris made an offer on a Brentwood home. His people told us it was for him and his band mates, but Gwyneth got involved and killed the deal, claiming their was mold.
5. The Couple Said They’re Actually Closer Now Than They’ve Ever Been
E! Online gives further detail on the couple’s announcement of their split, revealing their words to be this:
We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been. We are parents first and foremost, to two incredibly wonderful children and we ask for their and our space and privacy to be respected at this difficult time. We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.
