Reality stars Amy and Matt Roloff have decided to separate after 26 years of marriage. You may remember the couple from their series Little People, Big World, which followed the lives of the Roloff family. The Roloffs’ daily lives were of interest to viewers as three members of the family live with dwarfism. Read on for the sad facts on the couple’s recent split.


1. Though The Couple Has Separated, They Will Still Be Working Together Every Day

Matt and Amy Roloff are partners in business and that will not change because of their separation. The couple has released a statement to People about their separation stating:

As far as their working together and their living arrangements, there isn’t too much of a difference.

Matt remains living on the farm in our guest house and we work together everyday on the farm, on our business endeavors and most importantly, raising our amazing children.

Hollywood Life writes that:

Matt, 54, and Amy, 50 have four children together — 23-year-old twins Jeremy and Zack, 20-year-old Molly and 17-year-old Jacob, and they plan to ultimately put their children and family first.

On March 25, 2014 at 9 p.m. on TLC, a special that revisits the stars of Little People, Big World will give us further insight into the couple’s relationship. In a clip from the new special, Matt Roloff confesses:

3. Last Thanksgiving Matt Moved Out to the Guest House

Matt Roloff speaks about the troubles he and his wife are having, saying that it was around Thanksgiving that he decided to move out of the house. But, he didn’t go far.

Amy and I had a lot of tension so right around Thanksgiving. I thought I would move over to the bridal house for a little bit and we’ll try that. Amy and I stuck it out for years and years when maybe we shouldn’t have. I never quite felt at home in my own home so something needed to change. We needed to try something different.


4. The Separation Wasn’t Amy’s Decision

Amy reveals that she’s very upset by the trial separation and says that it was not her idea to do this.

I think what Matt and I failed to do over many, many years is learned to live together. It’s not my choice for him to leave. I am saddened by it. We don’t have a plan as far as how we are going to work this out so it’s not going to be easy.
