WATCH: Ellen DeGeneres Disses Liza Minnelli in Opening Monologue – Oscars 2014

Ellen DeGeneres didn’t disappoint as tonight’s Master of Ceremonies for the 2014 Academy Awards. As always, DeGeneres was hilarious and the opening monologue was phenomenal. She started things off by joking about the weather and then went in to talking about many of the first-time nominees. Ellen even takes notice of the best Liza Minnelli impersonator she’s ever seen, sitting in the crowd … who was actually the real Liza Minnelli. What really made this joke hilarious was when Ellen said that the impersonator did “really a great job, sir.”

Later in the opening, Ellen brings up Jennifer Lawrence falling down on stage at the Oscars. Coincidentally, J_Law fell earlier tonight on the red carpet, so of course Ellen had to bring that up too.
