Jose “Cheo” Feliciano has passed away at the age of 78 years old. Have a look at the sad facts on the music legend’s death.
1. He Was Killed in a Car Crash

Feliciano was reportedly killed in a car accident early this morning in Puerto Rico. Times Live reported that he died just after 4:00 a.m. when his Jaguar hit an electricity pole. The accident occurred in San Juan and was first reported by El Nueva Dia.

Feliciano is survived by his wife, Coco Feliciano, and four sons.
2. He Was the Only Passenger in the Vehicle

When the crash occurred on a road near Universidad Metropolitana, it was reported that Feliciano was the only passenger in the car. Billboard writes that:

3. He Was Not Wearing a Seat Belt

Unfortunately, the music star was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. According to Traffic Police Inspector Jorge Hernandez Pena:
Feliciano may have lost control on a curve and crossed lanes before hitting a power line pole. He was not wearing a seat belt and his head struck the windshield. He died at the scene, police said.
4. Feliciano Is a Puerto Rican Salsa Singer
Felciano is a music legend, most known as a salsa singer and has performed with many big Latin artists before he joined Fania Records’ All-Stars. Have a look at one of his old performances in the above video clip.

5. His Son Has Come Out With a Statement

The singer’s son, José Enrique Feliciano, said at the scene that his father, who had recently been treated for cancer, had a health condition that may have impaired mobility in one of his arms. He also raised the possibility that the singer fell asleep at the wheel.
