Nev Schulman and Max Joseph from Catfish have chosen a girl named Miranda to find out if her online love is telling the truth about who he is … He’s lied in the past and Miranda wants to find out whatever she can to make sure their love is real. 1. Cameryn Was the First Identity Given to Miranda

When Miranda first met her online love, his name was Cameryn. Three years ago the two met and Miranda fell head over heels for a guy she knew as Cameryn. Then, Miranda realized that Cameryn was using someone else’s photos on his account and became very upset. Miranda was actually watching Catfish and learned how to look up photos. When she looked up Cameryn’s photos, he appeared to actually be using photos of a guy named Josh.Cameryn then “came clean” as James. Now, Miranda is in love with James.
2. Miranda Went to Cameryn’s Town & He Still Wouldn’t Meet Her

Miranda first became suspicious of Cameryn when she visited Santa Monica, where he lives. She encountered only what seemed to be lies and excuses as to why Cameryn couldn’t meet. He also said his webcam was broken, so they couldn’t video chat either.
3. James Is the New Love of Miranda, But James Is a Girl

After a few months of not talking, Miranda got re-acquainted with “Cameryn,” who now called himself James. “James” may have confessed to using a fake profile, but Miranda still worries that James may not be who he says he is and that he could still be lying.
When Nev and Max started digging, they came across three options to be “James.” One was a random guy from Georgia named James, one was an Asian guy also named James, and one was actually a sex offender. Finally, the team discovers that “James” is actually an 18-year-old girl named Gabby who’s been questioning her sexuality.
4. Miranda & “James” Bonded Over Their Family’s Illnesses

Miranda’s mother suffers from terminal Crohns’ Disease and has had to give up her work in day care because of it. The definition of Crohns’ diseases is:
Crohn’s disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It usually affects the intestines, but may occur anywhere from the mouth to the end of the rectum (anus).
James, on the other hand, told Miranda that his sister has Leukemia, so Miranda has felt a bond with James over their loved ones’ illnesses.
5. Miranda Never Meets Her “Catfish”

Miranda decided she was going to move to California to go to fashion school, but she chose that location so she could be close to “Cameryn” who claimed to live in Santa Monica. She didn’t tell any of her friends that he was the reason for her school choice. This is when the real problems began.
Finally, Cameryn revealed to Miranda that his name was James and he lives in Georgia, but that wasn’t the only lie James told. This is completely evident when “James” turns out to be Gabby. Near the end of tonight’s episode, Miranda is seen crying in a park after receiving a text that Gabby was “sorry.”
At the end of it all, this was the first episode that the “catfish” and “catfishee” don’t meet in person because Gabby’s parents refuse to let Gabby meet someone she doesn’t know. The two end up Skyping and that’s when we find out that James is Gabby, but that’s all we are left with until Nev and Max do a follow-up because Gabby doesn’t show up for a face-to-face. It appears that Miranda and Gabby have been carrying on a relationship since the show and may actually be more than friends …
