Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed were photographed looking extremely friendly this weekend. Could this be a new romance or just a summer fling for the on-screen vampires?
Here’s what we know so far about their relationship and their dating histories.
1. They Were Getting Cozy at the Farmer’s Market

On July 20, they were photographed at an L.A. Farmer’s Market, and they didn’t shy away from packing on the PDA. There’s a nine-year age difference between the two, Somerhalder is 35, and Reed is 26.
We shouldn’t get too excited that they’re an item just yet, however.
At the same outing, Somerhalder also looked flirty with this unidentified woman.

2. They Both Played Vampires
In the Twilight movies, Reed was Rosalie, the adopted sister of Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson.
Somerhalder plays Damon in The Vampire Diaries, and although his character died at the end of last season, it’s been said that he’ll be back.
3. Nikki Just Got Divorced

In May, Reed filed for divorce from American Idol alum Paul McDonald, citing irreconcilable differences.
She met the singer in March of 2011 at a movie premiere, while he was competing on Season 10 of Idol.
In April, there were rumors that she moved on to DWTS’ Derek Hough.
4. Ian Broke Up With His Costar Last Year
He dated Nina Dobrev, who plays Elena on The Vampire Diaries, from September of 2011 to May of 2013. The two were very public about their relationship, and frequently posted couple pics on social media.
It comes as no surprise that when Somerhalder’s character died on The Vampire Diaries, people assumed the actor left because of being uncomfortable acting with his ex.
