Julia Goodwin wowed us her with her rendition of “New York State of Mind” in L.A. earlier this season on America’s Got Talent and is back again to show her singing chops. The teenager hails from upstate New York and has already performed with world-renowned singers far older than herself.

Goodwins’ website says she currently serves as the Junior Ambassador of the Great American Songbook, and was selected to perform at the New World Center in Miami, as she was a finalist winner in 2014 for the National YoungArts Foundation Competition for Vocal Pop. Goodwin has also been invited to join world-renowned singers such as Laurel Masse, Amra-Faye Wright, and Marilyn Maye at a ceremony honoring the work of music composer Larry Kerchner.

2. She Won Michael Feinstein’s Great American Songbook Vocal Academy & Competition

In 2013, Goodwin won the Great American Songbook Vocal Academy & Competition, performing “Dream a Little Dream of Me” and “Feeling Good”. Not only was she awarded $3,000 for winning first place, but she got to sing with Feinstein.

Upon winning, Goodwin became renowned for her talents. Stephen Holden of the New York Times wrote:

Julia Goodwin, the Feinstein protégée who opened the show, is a phenomenally gifted teenager from Baldwinsville, N.Y., who sang lucid unornamented renditions of “Feeling Good,” and “Darn That Dream.” She is as impressive as any of the vocal wunderkinds on The Voice.

3. She’s Lined Up to Perform At the 2014 M&T Syracuse Jazz Festival

The 32nd annual M&T Jazz Fest is New York state’s top ranked music festival and features an array of illustrious international jazz singers. Booking this gig was huge for Goodwin, as she’s already lined up to sing alongside notable performers like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Trombone Shorty, and B.B. King. Goodwin will be performing at the festival with Nick Ziobro, another Syracuse native, who won the Michael Feinstein Great American Songbook Competition the year before Goodwin.

4. She Sang the National Anthem at a Colts Game

Goodwin sang the national anthem at a Colts game this past Christmas when she was just 15, and told Syracuse.com it was one of the most awe-inspiring moments of her career. The Baldwinsville native sang in Indianapolis in front of an audience of 65,000, where the Colts took on Houston.

5. Her Biggest Influences Are Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra
