The musical dynamic duo of Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga visited the Today Show on July 29 to talk about their upcoming project.

“The collaboration has just been so wonderful. It’s so natural singing with Tony,” Gaga gushed.

Here’s what you need to know about their album and the history of their friendship.

1. They’re Releasing a Jazz Album

Their newest duets will be released on the album Cheek to Cheek, out on September 23.

To give us a taste of its sound, they released the above version of “Anything Goes” on the Today Show.

In an interview with CNN about the album, Bennett said,
“She’s great…she was unbelievable, she’s so creative…and a wonderful friend,”

2. They’ve Collaborated Before

For Bennett’s album, Duets II, the duo recorded “The Lady Is A Tramp.”

In the video above, we see them playfully singing and genuinely having a great time.

EW summed up the video like this:

Especially fun to watch is their playfulness with each other throughout the song; whether she’s mugging to the camera or their duet dance-break mid-video, Gaga’s theatricality definitely comes through. And you can tell Bennett is genuinely getting a kick out of her antics — listen to him chuckle throughout the vid.

For her Vanity Fair cover story, Gaga posed for Annie Leibovitz. After that session, Gaga posed nude for Bennett.

The sketch was printed in the January 2012 edition of the magazine.

It was auctioned for $30,000, and the money went to the Exploring the Arts and Born This Way Foundation.

During her Thanksgiving TV special, “A Very Gaga Thanksgiving,” she said, “I walked in and said “Well Tony here we are,” and I dropped my robe and I got into position. I felt shy and thought “It’s Tony Bennett, why am I naked?”

During the show, Bennett told viewers, ‘She is the most beautiful person I ever met but there is something very special about her.”

4. He Drew One of Her Tattoos

She told the Today Show, “I asked Tony to sketch a trumpet for me, and he decided to sketch Miles Davis’ trumpet — an iconic trumpet. I decided to get a tattoo ’cause I loved it so much.”

5. They’re Both Italians from New York City

Both crooners call New York City their home.
