Teresa and Joe Giudice have been dealing with legal issues, tabloid rumors, and family tragedies for the past few years. On this season’s Real Housewives of New Jersey, the show will take us into the lives of Teresa and Joe, dealing with a family’s worst nightmare. They’ve tried to put on a bravo face for the camera for years, but now we will finally see what is really going on with the Giudice family.
1. Joe & Teresa Have Pleaded Guilty to Fraud And Are Awaiting Sentencing
Joe and Teresa Giudice previously pleaded guilty to the fraud charges against them – 39 counts. The two were originally set to be sentenced this month, but the sentencing was moved to September 23, 2014 after the sudden death of Joe’s beloved father Frank. Teresa is hoping for house arrest, or at the least, for her husband Joe and herself to serve their sentences separately so that they don’t have to worry about their children being taken care of. Teresa faces up to 27 months in jail, while Joe is facing a much greater penalty. According to LA LATE:
Teresa Giudice & Joe Giudice’s 39 count indictment actually included lies, not just about real estate, but even about Real Housewives of New Jersey. Prosecutors claimed that Teresa Giudice & Joe Giudice falsified their salaries from Bravo TV back in 2009.
Whether this is actually true or not, but Joe Giudice could face deportation, which would devastate the family.

2. Daughter Gia Seems to Be Taking Her Parents’ Legal Issues the Hardest

Teresa’s brother Joe and his wife Melissa are sick over the news of the couple’s troubles, but the person who seems to be taking this the hardest is Teresa and Joe’s eldest daughter Gia. We’ve watched Gia grow over the past few years and being able to recognize what’s going on with her parents, as she gets older, is really taking its toll on her. It’s clear, by watching the show, that Gia is fearful of her parents leaving and her life falling apart. On a sweet note, in one episode of the show this season, Gia tells her father that she wants to grow up to be a criminal attorney. Joe Giudice seems touched and says, “We need those.”
3. Joe Has Been Accused of Cheating on Teresa Many Times
When you become a star, you are always faced with tabloid rumors, but Joe Giudice has been accused of cheating on his wife several times in the media. There was also a very suspicious scene on the Real Housewives of New Jersey where Joe seemed to be on the phone with someone who seemed to be saying something sexual. Many viewers believe the person on the phone was a mistress of Joe’s. However, Joe and Teresa insist that the call was for work.
4. Teresa’s Brother and Husband Have Been in Serious Fights Over the Years
Over the past few years, Teresa has had issues with her brother Joe, as well as his wife and fellow cast member Melissa Gorga. Between mean text messages, talking behind each others backs, and violent confrontations, it’s been a very rocky road. At one point, both Joe’s reached their boiling points and got into a serious physical fight. Have a look at the video clip above.
Since the fight, though there are still ups and downs, the two Joe’s made up with “family is family” in mind.
5. Teresa And Joe Are Often Reprimanded for Joe’s Gay Slurs

Joe often lets politically-incorrect words and racial slurs roll off his tongue on the show, without even a thought and many viewers, including big wig Andy Cohen, have been offended by his use of the word “faggot” over the years. Both Joe and Teresa have had to explain themselves many times for this. Fellow cast members have said they don’t agree with the words Joe uses, but say it’s because of upbringing and ignorance, that it’s not malicious. Teresa often stands up for her husband, but says she tells him he shouldn’t use those words. But, the fact of the matter is, Joe is a grown man and makes his own decisions.
