Acro Army is the acrobatic team to beat on America’s Got Talent. Here are the facts on the gymnasts who could win this year …
1. Each Member Has Been Selected to Represent the U.S. on the National Team
— AcroArmy (@AcroArmy) August 18, 2014
Each part of the Acro Army team has been chosen to represent the U.S. National Team. NBC writes:
AcroArmy is a living testament to the adage, “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” Competing in groups of two or three, these acrobats from across the country have reached the highest levels of achievement in the sport of acrobatic gymnastics. Ranging in age from 11 to 27, every member has been selected to represent the U.S. on the National Team and have earned many national and international titles.
The team is hoping their efforts and training will bring them the win
2. Mentor Arthur Davis Put the Team Together
Arthur Davis (born December 29, 1974) is a retired U.S. acrobatic gymnast who won two world championship titles while completing as the base in a mixed pair with top Shenea Booth (also retired from athletic competition). Davis and Booth were the first U.S. athletes to win the mixed-pair all-around gold medal at the 2002 Sports Acrobatics World Championships in Riesa, Germany.
3. Davis Was a Prior Finalist on the Show
Davis and his former partner Shenea Booth formed the duo Realis after retirement and previously competed on America’s Got Talent, making it to the finals. Have a look at one of their performances in the above video.
4. The Team Is Made Up of 17 Gymnasts
Acro Army is made up of so many people, it always makes for an amazing performance that never fails to be different. Check out one of their best performances in the above video clip.
5. It Was Down to Mike Super and Acro Army for the Final Spot in the Semi-Finals
Mike Super and Acro Army were vying for the last spot in the top 5, but it was Acro Army who prevailed. Mike Super is a “mystifier” with an extensive resume. His Facebook profile reads:
Ellen DeGeneres had Mike kick off her first ever “Magic Week” where he made her materialize from nothing but shadows. The International Magicians Society recently named Mike Super 2011 International Entertainer of the Year. Mike currently tours the US and Canada with his award winner theater show.
