At tonight’s 2014 Emmy Awards, Billy Crystal honored his dear friend Robin Williams in a tribute dedicated to the laughter Williams brought us all over the years.

Crystal reminisced about his time with Williams, who had no knowledge of sports, never stopped making people laugh, and who always attended Crystal’s family functions. Crystal opened up about what a supportive, protecting and loving friend Williams was and how hard it is to talk about his in the past tense.
After Crystal’s speech, a clip of Williams’ first appearance on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and his time on Inside the Actors Studio, along with other hilarious videos was shown. There was no applause at the end of the segment and the stage faded to black.
