George Clooney is finally settling down, and the world is counting down the days until the big day.

As is to be expected, his wedding to lawyer Amal Alamuddin is meeting with a lot of speculation as it gets closer.

When they got engaged, a source told Us Weekly, “This is the healthiest relationship I’ve ever seen George in. He seems incredibly happy, and Amal is such a sweet and intelligent girl, who has her own thoughts and ideas and doesn’t just bow down to everything he says.”

Here’s what we know about the highly anticipated nuptials:

1. It Will Take Place in Italy

In a rare move by the perpetually private bachelor, Clooney revealed a major detail about his upcoming wedding.

On Sunday in Tuscany, at a Humanitarian Awards dinner where Clooney got an award, he declared his love for his fiancee.

During the speech, he announced that the wedding would occur “in a couple of weeks” in Venice.

“I met my lovely bride to be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying, in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places,” he gushed.

Although Clooney owns an estate in Lake Como, Page Six said that he wouldn’t marry there due to a lack of privacy.

2. People Thought It Would Be Held on September 12

Originally, Page Six reported that the actor wanted to get married in Italy a year from when he first met his fiancee.

The Daily Star claimed it had exclusive information that the couple would wed in a civil ceremony in London on September 12.

There was so much buzz surrounding it that, according to TMZ, Chelsea Old Town Hall had to post a letter, shown below, on its door.

It said, “We are not conducting the wedding of Mr. Clooney at this office today (Friday 12 September) and a film crew and press photographers would only cause possible disruption to other couples getting married on this day.”

3. Amal’s Dress Will Be a McQueen

The Express reported that the 36-year-old bride-to-be was at the East London headquarters of Alexander McQueen with her mother.

The luxury designer also designed Kate Middleton’s wedding dress.

As for a bridal shower, she had one thrown by Ellen Barkin. The actress, who was Clooney’s costar in Ocean’s Thirteen, hosted it at her New York City home.

4. They Already Have Their Marriage License

Dlisted posted a picture of the license on August 6.

Us Weekly confirmed that they signed the certificate in London at Chelsea Town Hall.

The rumors started when Life & Style first recently posted photos of Alamuddin in a white maxi dress which was flowing and looked to reveal what could be perceived as a baby bump.

Us Weekly obtained a statement from Clooney’s rep saying that she is not expecting.
