Ozzy Osbourne Receives Global Icon Award at 2014 MTV EMAs

This year marks the 20th anniversary of MTV’s EMAs and Ozzy Osbourne is the recipient of the Global Icon Award. Last year, Eminem picked up the award and went on to perform two songs for the crowd. Fans are hoping for a performance from Ozzy to celebrate his win. Bruce Gillmer, executive VP of talent and music programming/events at Viacom told the Hollywood Reporter:

Ozzy’s impact on music and pop culture has been tremendous. For over four decades, he’s entertained, influenced, inspired and sometimes shocked legions of die-hard fans around the globe.

Osbourne will be the fifth recipient of the award. In addition to Eminem, stars who received the award include Whitney Houston (2012), Queen (2011) and Bon Jovi (2010).

In addition to this award, the Osbournes have more big news. Their MTV reality series is returning after almost 10 years. Sharon Osbourne revealed:

Ozzy’s decided he wants to do another few episodes, about eight, of The Osbournes. It’s been 13 years since we first did it. He said for the three years we did (the show) he was drunk the whole time and he’d like to be sober. As I say it’s not forever, no more than eight episodes. It’s a kind of a catch-up, what they’re doing now.

The new series is set to start filming in January 2015.
