Top 5 Console Games on Pre-Order: Pokemon and Spartans Couldn’t Dethrone the Best-Sellers

As we emerge from the first week of November and steadily head towards the Black Friday craze and the holidays beyond, let’s take a look at the best-selling games on pre-order in the United States and see what titles gamers are craving (data as of November 1):

5. Super Smash Bros (Wii U)

The Wii U deposits its chart-topping title at number 5 in our list, which is quite impressive given the fact that our top spots reserved their places by being available on multiple consoles.  A couple of weeks towards the title’s launch on November 21, Super Smash Bros for the Wii U raked in nearly 200,000 pre-orders at 199,318 by the end of the final week of October.

4. Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire (3DS)

Nintendo scores another one with Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire dual pack, proving many a doomsayer wrong about the direction that the company has recently taken (down). The dual pack is sitting pretty at our 4th spot with 234,143 pre-orders as of November 1.

The Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire titles to be launched on November 21 are successors of a long (seriously, loooooong) line of Pokemon titles that gamers have been playing since the Nintendo Gameboy. They’re more a testament to the longevity of the handheld than they are to the tenacity of Nintendo as a game publisher. Either way, they’re tons of fun.

3. Halo: The Master Chief Collection (XOne)

Hyped up by the Halo: Nightfall live action series with Ridley Scott at the helm, the Halo: Master Chief Collection is turning heads and leading charts as it lands firmly on our top 3 spot of best games on pre-order, amassing an impressive 297,972 pre-orders despite being exclusive to the XBox One.

But really, when you got a trailer like this you won’t have any trouble:

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Halo’s sprawling universe is already quite impressive even without awesome trailers. Relive the complete Halo experience on November 11 and pre-order your Halo: The Master Chief Collection now.

2. Assassin’s Creed: Unity (PS4 & XOne)

Arno and his deadly buddies aren’t pulling any punches with Assassin’s Creed: Unity securing our top 2 spot for best console games on pre-order. With a stunning 309,442 pre-orders across both Playstation 4 (171,500 pre-orders) and Xbox One (137,942 pre-orders), Unity managed to kill — pun intended — Master Chief’s collection by being on two consoles.

1. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS4, XOne, PS3, X360)

No, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare didn’t “cheat;” just the Xbox One pre-orders of this massive hit would be enough to beat Assassin’s Creed: Unity’s combined pre-orders on both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

As of this writing, Advanced Warfare is already out — but by the end of October it garnered an astonishing 1,196,940 pre-orders, with the Playstation 4 and XBox One sales leading the pack. Kevin Spacey should be proud — here’s to hoping the success of this game will result in President Frank Underwood playing Advanced Warfare when he’s not busy taking over US politics in House of Cards.

Just in case the Advanced Warfare craze hasn’t seeped into your system yet, here’s a video of its gameplay:
