Madam Secretary makes its return tonight after a successful first half of its first season. The mid-season premiere episode is titled “Standoff” and it’s plot is this: Elizabeth’s wedding anniversary celebration is cut short when political tension forces her to re-examine an extradition deal she made; Elizabeth’s son is injured while Blake is watching him. CBS describes the episode in further detail, writing:
When a Texas state trooper is killed by a Mexican cartel smuggler, Elizabeth arranges an extradition deal before going on vacation to celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary in New York City. However, when political issues arise around the case, she is forced to cut their trip short. Also, Elizabeth’s son injures himself while Blake is watching him, on Madam Secretary, Sunday, Jan 4, 8/7c.
The following episode is called “Chains Of Command” and reads: Elizabeth wants a Bahraini diplomat prosecuted when he is caught holding a maid hostage; Henry’s father visits. The next two episodes are titled “Whisper of the Ax” and “The Ninth Circle.”
