Valentine’s Day may take precedence in most parts of the world on Saturday – but to the cricket-loving nations it marks the start of the World Cup.

Google doodle has commemorated the occasion with a special drawing for the search page in the UK, South Africa, Australia, India and New Zealand. The rest of the world will see a special Google doodle Valentine’s Day video showing how technology brings us together.

New Zealand has already won the first match against Sri Lanka and England and Australia are also battling it out on Saturday.

The tournament in Australia lasts more than a month, with the final not being played until March 29.

There is a round robin before the top teams from Pool A and Pool B go into the quarter final and from there on it’s knock-out.
