Whitney Bischoff has won the heart of The Bachelor Chris Soules on the 2015 finale of the show and is engaged to Soules. Over the course of the season, the rumored winner was Whitney and on the finale we got to see that the rumors were correct … we got to see the best sides and weakest sides of both Whitney and Becca Tilley. The first contestant who arrived at the barn to meet Chris Soules in their final rose ceremony was Becca Tilley. She arrived in a red velvet dress and we all knew at that moment she was going home.
Throughout the entire episode, Becca struggled with her feelings, trying to figure out what the future was for her and Soules. Becca admitted she wasn’t in love with Soules yet and said she wouldn’t move to Iowa to be with Soules until she was absolutely sure. When meeting Soules in the barn, he confessed his feelings for her, saying he’s seen something in her since the first day. He said that he never had doubts in the potential that he saw. He said he could see her as being his wife, but he said she wasn’t ready for that. He said that he had to go with his gut and his heart and that it wasn’t fair to either of them to take such a leap of faith together.
Becca’s response was that she couldn’t respect him more and that Soules is an amazing person. As Soules hugged Becca goodbye he told her that he loves her a lot and that she’s an amazing person as well. When Becca was in the limo ride home, there were no tears and she said she felt like she was in shock. It was different than most of the limo rides we’ve seen on The Bachelor. Becca did say, however, that she felt that she was falling in love with him and could see a future with him. She was fearful of waking up one day and realizing that she was in love with Soules the entire time and just didn’t know it.
As Whitney arrived at the barn, she was full of nerves, anxiously waiting to hear Chris Soules’ decision. Whitney spoke first and basically said what she’s been saying, that she is in love with Soules, that she’s felt something with him since the beginning, and that she’s terrified to hear his answer. She then gave him a quick kiss. Soules then told Whitney that she’s perfect for him and how much he loved seeing her with his family. He said their relationship is natural, feels so right, and that he wants it for the rest of his life. Soules then finally said, “I love you.”
Soules then got down on one knee and presented Whitney with a beautiful Neil Lane engagement ring that he picked out with famous designer Neil Lane himself. Soules then, of course, asked Whitney if she would accept the final rose.
As far as why Soules chose Whitney, he revealed in an interview with People Magazine that:
Becca is in a different place in her life compared to where I am. That doesn’t make it a bad thing, and it didn’t change how I felt about her, but it’s about trying to find the person that you can see in your life and that you have the best chance of making it work forever with. My sister said, ‘You’re not looking for a girlfriend, you’re looking for a wife.’ That’s the truth.
And, as for Soules’ feelings for Whitney, he says:
She was the person I could see myself with. Whitney is my soulmate. It became even more clear at the end. It just felt right.
