The Build Up
Bad News Barrett has been the reigning, defending Intercontinental Champion ever since defeating previous title holder Dolph Ziggler. Ever since then, his big mouth and tough demeanor have made him even more of a target now that he holds the IC championship once again. After running away from his title defense at Fastlane 2015 and getting embarrassed by Dean Ambrose, Barrett’s championship belt has jumped from a bunch of different hands lately. Not officially mind you, but the title belt has been stolen and captured by different contenders over the past few weeks. Those very same contenders (Dean Ambrose, R-Truth, Luke Harper, Dolph Ziggler, Stardust and Daniel Bryan) will all face each other and Barrett in a ladder match for the title at Mania 31.
How The Match Will Unfold
The two larger wrestlers in this match will showcase their dominance from jump street. Barrett and Harper will power down their smaller counterparts and use the ladder to permanently incapacitate them. We really don’t see R-Truth or Stardust being too much of a serious threat to Barrett’s title defense aspirations, so expect to see them take some jaw-dropping spills during the match. As for Ziggler, Bryan and Ambrose, they’ll be the main Superstars to keep your eyes on. These three men have the biggest movements when it comes to genuine fan support. After every man has taken amazing falls off the ladder and shocked the crowd with their dangerous use of ladders, we see Ambrose being the man to climb that ladder in the center of the ring. He’ll be the one to finally delete his PPV losing streak by grabbing the Intercontinental Championship at Mania 31.
What Happens in the Future
Dean Ambrose will finally begin to fulfill his potential as one of the best performers on the current WWE roster. He’s capable of putting on great matches, which is a characteristic of his that will be front and center during his new IC title reign. Over the next couple of months, Ambrose will defend his newly won championship against some of the Superstars he competed against in the ladder match. First off, he’ll run into a few rematches with Barrett and prevail. Then we see him putting on some incredible performances against Dolph Ziggler and Daniel Bryan. Eventually, we see Daniel Bryan being the one to dethrone Ambrose. Before that happens though, we see Ambrose going on a tear as the IC champion until the late summer.
