LL Cool J has been rapping for decades, and is one of the best-known artists of our time. He started making music in 1984 and hasn’t stopped, releasing his most recent album, Authentic, in 2013. In 1992, he earned his first Grammy for “Mama Said Knock You Out,” and then won another in 1997 for “Hey Lover.” Throughout his career, the multitasking 47-year-old has sold more than 13 million albums worldwide.

A frequent Grammy host, he’s added to his hosting resume with his role as Lip Sync Battle’s MC. “Like the rest of the world, I’m a big fan of these battles, but this show is going to bring it to a whole new level,” he said in a statement. Now that the show has enjoyed tremendous success, and has already been renewed for 20 more episodes, he told CBS This Morning, “I never knew that the show was going to have the success that it’s having. I’m very, very grateful and happy that happened.”

Although he’s pursued his acting career as of late- with a starring role on NCIS: Los Angeles– let’s remember his musical roots with these music videos to his chart-topping hits.
