The title says it all.
Tonight’s episode of Rizzoli & Isles, titled “Nice to Meet You, Dr. Isles,” introduces a brand-new character in the dramatic mix, someone Maura (Sasha Alexander) has been hiding for years; her adoptive father (David Ogden Stires). But not only will Dr. Isles introduction be every bit as dramatic as one would expect, it might also be criminal.
The pair will spend tonight’s episode investigating the death of one of Boston’s top jewelers and that leads Rizzoli and Isles face-to-face with the doctor and Maura’s past. Showrunner Jan Nash explained the decision to delve into the character’s past and why now is the perfect time to bring her adoptive father into the fray:
We spent a lot of time talking about who that person is. We’ve seen all of the rest of the characters, why have we not seen that one? It gave us a really interesting opportunity to bring some conflict into the show for the Maura Isles character.
Rizzoli & Isles airs on Tuesday night at 9 p.m. on TNT.
