Vicki Gunvalson’s now ex-boyfriend Brooks Ayers has been the main topic on this season of Real Housewives of Orange County because of his cancer diagnosis. Because of stories that Gunvalson’s fellow cast-mates have received from Ayers, they have doubted his illness, which has put a strain on Gunvalson’s relationship with Ayers. The cast member who has had the biggest issue with Ayers has been Meghan King Edmonds. Determined that something is “fishy” about Ayers’ cancer diagnosis, Edmonds has gone to great lengths to try to prove that Ayers is lying about being sick. She contacted an ex of Ayers, who allegedly told her that Ayers had previously faked having cancer. In addition, she called Ayers’ doctor, who told her that they do not conduct PET scans. So, when Ayers finally produces some hard evidence to show his cancer battle, Edmonds believes it is fake. The other women have begun to doubt that Ayers is truthful as well. Shannon Beador wonders why Ayers will not take her advice when it comes to a doctor of hers while Heather Dubrow says she previously went to Ayers’ doctor for cellulite treatments. She doesn’t understand how a doctor who does cosmetic procedures would be able to treat cancer. While Tamra Judge tries to back Gunvalson, it’s hard to fight off all the outside influences, especially when there has not been much proof on Ayers’ side.
So, does Ayers have non-Hodgkins lymphoma or not? According to Radar Online, Vicki Gunvalson’s family wants Ayers to take a lie detector test, but he has refused. In addition, Radar offered for Ayers to take a lie detector test and his response was that he’s never been through anything like this with the media. A source tells Radar:
Vicki thinks it’s absolutely ridiculous that her kids doubt that Brooks has cancer. But, there has never been any proof provided that Brooks does have it. When her kids asked him to provide proof, Brooks just scoffed at their demand and has refused to take it … Even though Brooks and Vicki are currently broken up, her family believes as soon as the reunion is filmed, they will officially be back together. Brooks will be staying with Vicki in the next few weeks as he recently said he would be returning to California to continue treatment.
In the past, Ayers has admitted to cheating on Gunvalson, not treating her the way she should be treated, lying, and drinking too much. Could his cancer diagnosis be another fabrication? But, in the words of Heather Dubrow, “Who would lie about cancer?”
