‘The Bastard Executioner’ Season 1: Episode 3

Get ready for more drama and gore.

The Bastard Executioner is back on Tuesday night with another episode of the Kurt Sutter series that will turn its focus on Wilkin (Lee Jones) and his new career as Castle Ventris’ executioner.

Last week, in the two-part pilot episode, Wilkin had pretended to serve as the executioner so that he could infiltrate the court of his foes, responsible for the attack on his farm, his friends and the death of his family. It didn’t exactly go as planned. Ventris’ (Brian F. O’Byrne) closest advisor Milus (Stephen Moyer) knew exactly who the alleged “executioner” was.

Milus demanded that Wilkin continue to reside in the city as the castle’s permanent executioner, saying, “I need a man with the heart of a dragon.”

Of course, this is the opposite of what Wilkin had hoped for. He had previously hoped to turn away from the sword and his frustration with his current lot will bring out his more brutal side as he carries out his duties within the castle. Wilkin will also once again be taunted with the vision of the angel in his dreams, coming face-to-face with the ghost of his dead wife Petra (Elen Rhys) once again.

The Bastard Executioner airs on Tuesday on FX at 10 p.m. ET
