Alexa PenaVega Eliminated On ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Tonight

Tonight’s episode of Dancing With the Stars was full of unexpected moments. The biggest surprise was contestant Tamar Braxton absent from the live show as she was rushed to the hospital with pneumonia. With her not being on the show, it could have meant that she would be disqualified. Though her individual performance was scored based on her dress rehearsal video, she ended up making it to the live show just 20 minutes before the end. And so, she was able to dance her second dance live.

The dancers carried on and gave two performances per couple. The second dances were duets, which paired up couples with “showstopper” routines. In addition, contestants had to dance side-by-side for 30 seconds, away from their pro partners. This was the first time that the show ever did this and it was a success.

The first couples announced as safe tonight were Bindi Irwin with Derek Hough, Nick Carter with Sharna Burgess and Alek Skarlatos with Lindsay Arnold. Tamar Braxton and Val Chmerkovskiy were then announced as being safe. This meant that married couple Carlos and Alexa PenaVega were up for elimination against each other. In the end, the person voted off the show tonight was … Alexa PenaVega. Alexa hugged her husband and cried, saying that this was horrible. Carlos told her this was “what they want” and to just give it to them.

Upon hearing the news, Carlos grabbed his wife and cried to her saying that he wishes it was him who was voted off rather than her. Carlos turned to his DWTS partner Witney Carson for a hug as he continued to cry. This was probably the most emotional elimination ever on the show.
