‘The Originals’ Return Date & Season 3 Spoilers

The Originals spoilers, The Originals season 3 spoilers, The Originals

The Originals won’t be back until the end of the month, but there are still spoilers to break down. (Facebook)

It feels like it’s been forever, right?

The Originals hasn’t been on our TV screens in nearly a month and it feels like a decade, at least, since we watched Cami (Leah Pipes) die in the show’s midseason finale.

Of course that metaphorical decade has given us plenty of time to come up with all the different ways Klaus (Joseph Morgans) is going to exact his revenge on Aurora (Rebecca Breeds). We’re not counting out a vampire-fueled rampage throughout all of New Orleans.

The CW hit returns to TV screens on January 29 with a brand-new episode, titled “Ghosts of the Mississippi,” and a move to Friday nights. Before we dive into the rest of this season’s spoilers, check out a preview for the upcoming episode:

First, let’s talk about Klaus.

He’s mad. Very mad. Understandably mad. But he won’t be the only one dealing with some drama when The Originals returns.

Rebekah (Claire Holt) returned to New Orleans, but she was nearly driven insane by a mark on her wrist and even went as far as trying to harm her family. As a result, she asked Elijah (Daniel Gillies) to dagger her; again. Executive producer Michael Narducci told Entertainment Weekly that might not make everything alright, however:

hey know that the three remaining Mikaelson siblings that are vampires, that have sire lines, they will fall my friend, by foe, and by family. And Rebekah says, ‘I’m a mess. I’m cursed. I’m going to spiral out of control. I will be an enemy to this family. You’ve got to put me down and maybe, maybe if you put me down, that will have eliminated one facet of this prophecy, and that would mean that you don’t have to look at Klaus with suspicion anymore, and maybe the two of you united have a chance to deal with everything else. Now, is that going to play out exactly that way?

Narducci dropped a few other tidbits as well, teasing that Elijah hadn’t used a cursed dagger so Rebekah is unconscious, but not dead. He also added that Rebekah might not return for some time – or at least until this prophecy has wrapped up.

The Originals airs on the CW at 9 p.m. on Fridays.
