Presently, the top 24 contestants on American Idol 2016 are performing in hopes of making it through to the next round of the competition. Each of the performers has the privilege of carrying out a duet with past winners and contestants from the show, who mentor them a bit in their journey. Not only will judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. be helping them; now former Idol stars will aid in the success of the contestants. One of the former singers returning to the show is Scotty McCreery, who told Win Country that:

I remember how important it was to me during my time on Idol to meet and learn from all the great artists who visited the set and offered their advice. I was proud to be able to come back and offer whatever guidance I could to my two talented contestants. This is their season and their show. I was there to help them shine … and I believe they both did!

Additional former winners and performers from past seasons who will appear on the show as well include Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Burrino, Lauren Alaina, Caleb Johnson and Nick Fradiani. Studdard told Electronic Urban Report about the experience, stating:

I think everybody that comes on the show has a dream of just doing what they love every day. And that has been, for me, the most fulfilling thing in my life.

On tonight’s episode of American Idol, seven of the contestants who performed this week on the show will be revealed as making it through to the top 14. Prior to their reveal, they will get to perform duets with their star mentors.

Stay tuned on Heavy.com to find out who made it through. The rest of the top 14 will be revealed next week.
