Shark Week 2016 Premiere: When Does It Start & What Channel Is It On?

Every year, the Discovery Channel devotes a week’s worth of television to those ferocious beasts under the sea. Shark Week is one of the biggest weeks in TV each year. Don’t believe us? According to the Daily News, 42 million people tuned into Shark Week in 2015, and we can only imagine those numbers will grow this year.

During Shark Week, the Discovery Channel premieres brand new content about the sharp-toothed deadly yet mysterious fish. Expect to see new movies and specials made just for the event.

This year, Shark Week premieres on Sunday June 26 at 8/7c and promises a lot of violence, exploration, and shark sex…whatever that is. A special about tiger sharks called Tiger Beach will kick off the week. Eight days of shark content will follow. The Killing Games, a film about the great white hunting strategy, will close out the week.

To tease the week, Discovery aired Sharktacular on June 19. The special was hosted by Eli Roth and featured viral videos submitted by fans.
