WATCH: Ben Affleck Teases Deathstroke as the New ‘Batman’ Villain

Ben Affleck posted a 27-second clip on his Twitter page Monday morning, appearing to confirm that Deathstroke will be the villain for his solo Batman movie.

The silent footage shows the assassin in motion, wearing his familiar orange and black mask. While the villain is best known for his clashes with the Teen Titans, he has had conflicts with Batman. The character has never appeared in a film before, but was used extensively in the Teen Titans animated series that ran from 2003 to 2006.

Deathstroke is a dangerous mercenary and assassin who was experimented on during a U.S. Army project that helped him gain super strength, intelligence and agility. He sought revenge after his oldest son was killed. If he turns out to be the main villain, he will pose an immense threat for Batman to face.

There still is no set release date for the Affleck solo movie, but during Warner Bros.’ San Diego Comic Con panel, he stood between the directors for The Flash and Cyborg. The Flash is due out in 2018.

Deathstoke might not be the only Batman villain to appear in Affleck’s movie. In May, Birth.Movies.Death. reported that “many, if not most” of Batman’s famous rogues gallery will be in the film. Affleck is working extensively with DC Chief Creative Officer George Johns on the script.

Affleck made his debut as Batman in this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and appeared in Suicide Squad. He will next be seen in Justice League, which opens on November 17, 2017.
