On Sunday night, Rachel Wyatt was named runner-up at the 2017 Miss America competition. She was crowned Miss South Carolina in June at the 80th anniversary pageant at The Township, in South Carolina,  and proved herself once again on the final night of the Miss America pageant.

1. She Is a Dancer at Clemson University

After she passed on the national teen crown in 2013, Rachel stepped away from pageants to enroll at Clemson University, where she dances as a Rally Cat. When asked how she felt after being named Miss South Carolina 2016, Wyatt told The State, “I knew no matter what the outcome was, God has a plan. So either I was going to go back to Clemson to continue being a Rally Cat or I’m going to be Miss South Carolina. So I just felt strangely calm and at peace and when it happened.”


2. She Won Miss South Carolina Teen in 2012 and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen

Wyatt has had a lot of success in the pageant world. In 2012, she was named Miss South Carolina Teen, before going on to win Miss America’s Outstanding Teen– the “little sister” pageant to Miss America, according to Greenville Online.


3. She Is From Piedmont, South Carolina

Wyatt is a native of Piedmont, South Carolina. After winning the title of Miss South Carolina Teen, Wyatt won a $30,000 scholarship, and a $2,000 scholarship for the overall talent award. She competed in the competition as Miss Clemson. After her win, Greenville Online wrote, “This is the first time a Miss and Teen contestant with the same title won the Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen titles in the same year, and the second time two contestants from the same local pageant won the Miss and Teen crowns.”


4. She Dated Oklahoma Football Player Trevor Knight

Last year, Wyatt was dating Oklahoma quarterback, Trevor Knight, according to Busted Coverage.

The news outlet said that she was seen spending time with Knight in Disney World over the July 4 weekend. Lately, though, Knight has been posting Instagram pics of a new woman, suggesting he and Wyatt are no longer together.


5. She Works With Special Needs Adults

Wyatt’s platform is Life without limits, which is her work with special needs adults. When asked by The State how her time with special needs adult prepared her for the Miss South Carolina pageant, Rachel said:

All of my special needs friends are so inspiring and it kind of came about through dance and my journey with them. I’ve been dancing since I was 5 years old and began teaching dance to special needs adults and loved doing that all through high school…
