Who won the 2016 Miss USA Pageant tonight? The winner this year is … Miss Arkansas Savvy Shields.
Upon accepting the crown, Shields will take on a year of responsibilities in addition to a ton of wonderful perks. Two of the many rewards include a $50,000 scholarship and a six-figure salary.
The contestants were narrowed down quickly throughout the competition from the top 15 to the top 12, top 10, top 7 and so forth.
What most viewers were looking forward to see (besides the swimsuit competition) were the on-stage questions that the contestants had to answer. Here’s what went down with the judges’ questions tonight:
Miss South Carolina was asked about our nation’s immigration issues and she agreed that America does have a problem in this area.
Miss Mississippi was asked by judge Sara Foster about a sexual harassment lawsuit. Miss Mississippi said we need to focus more on equality in the workforce.
Miss Washington was asked a question by judge Mark Cuban. She was asked about the National Anthem and about “Black Lives Matter.” She seemed to feel very strongly about the issue.
Miss Maryland was asked about Matt Lauer grilling Hillary Clinton and asked her about the media’s coverage of the Presidential campaign. Miss Maryland said she supports both candidates after being questioned by singer Ciara.
Miss New York was questioned about what she thinks of Donald Trump. She said that all people from all backgrounds need to be celebrated in this country.
Miss Arkansas was asked about her feelings on Hillary Clinton by judge Gabby Douglas. She said that it’s hard to tell what is truth and what is scandal in the media. She flubbed a little, but smiled and laughed through it.
Miss Texas was questioned by judge Cole Swindell about the 15th anniversary of 9/11 and new precautions we should take with a new President. She said we need to know when and where to be cautious.
Miss Arkansas was one of our winner predictions as she won the talent competition in one of the preliminaries this week. Who were you rooting for?
