Rap mogul Damon Dash’s son Boogie is one of the stars of reality show Growing Up Hip Hop. This season on the show, we get more of an inside look at Boogie’s DUI arrest from May 2016 and you can watch a clip of it in the above video. According to TMZ, Boogie was pulled over by police for weaving and straddling lanes while behind the wheel. When pulled over, the cops reportedly thought Boogie could be under the influence, so they administered a field sobriety test. As a result, Boogie ended up arrested for a misdemeanor DUI.
When talking about the arrest to his father, Boogie says he was just dropping his friend “manager” Dave off after going out clubbing. When Boogie’s dad speaks to his son, he is disappointed to say the least, but Boogie tells his father he was not drunk. Boogie says that he passed the breathalyzer test, but that the police took him down to the station to test his blood. Clearly, the police found something in his blood, which was enough to place him under arrest.
This is not the first time that Boogie Dash has been arrested. Back in 2013, Boogie was detained for allegedly strangling his ex-girlfriend in New York at Boogie’s West 16th Street apartment. According to the NY Post, Boogie was charged with misdemeanor assault and strangulation for “allegedly squeezing his girlfriend’s neck as they argued” on September 22, 2013. A source said the cause of the fight was sex. In addition, the source gave the rundown on their account of the situation, saying:
She was visiting him at his apartment, he got violent with her, starts to punch her, slap her and shove her onto the bed, got on top of her, he grabs her by the throat and chokes her … He did get physically violent with her. She suffered bruises, a black eye and a cut lip.
The NY Post reports that Boogie ended up signing an order of protection barring him from any contact with his ex.
