Thanks to the Vice Presidential debate, NBC‘s This Is Us is off this week. That means that we will have to wait a bit longer for the aftermath of the show’s latest twist. This Is Us returns on October 11 at 9 p.m. ET, an hour earlier than its previous two episodes. As a warning, this post is filled with spoilers, so if you are interested in catching up on the show before episode three airs, look away!
Episode Three is titled “Kyle.” The description reads:
Rebecca encounters Randall’s biological father when she makes a surprise visit to her son’s home; Kevin decides to move to NYC to pursue a job on Broadway; and Toby plans a special day for Kate. In the past, Rebecca and Jack take their new babies home from the hospital and struggle to cope with the loss of a child.
Each episode of This Is Us has provided the audience with twists. During the pilot, creator Dan Fogleman revealed that Randall (Sterling K. Brown), Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Kate (Chrissy Metz) are the children of Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia), as Rebecca and Jack’s story is playing out during the 1970s.
In episode two, “The Big Three,” we learned that Jack and Rebecca split at some point and Jack’s friend Miguel (Jon Huertas, Castle) is with Rebecca. There were hints throughout the episode that Jack and Rebecca’s marriage was struggling, but it looked like they might patch things up. However, something happens to Jack and that will probably be another surprise twist for the audience.
After the pilot for This Is Us earned 14.3 million viewers and a 4.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic, NBC quickly put in a full-season order for This Is Us. The first season will run 18 episodes.
“We are thrilled. This order for a complete first season of 18 episodes is exactly what we’d wanted and hoped for,” Fogleman said in a statement. “We’d carefully mapped out an 18-chapter story for the first year of the show, and this allows us to follow through with our exact initial intent. And to get the order so early on is a tremendous show of confidence and a boost for our entire cast and crew.”
After each episode so far, NBC has been sharing “After Show” interviews with the cast and crew. Below is the video for “The Big Three.”
