Maureen McCormick is a contestant on Dancing With the Stars and tonight the theme of the episode is “most memorable year”. For McCormick’s inspiration tonight, it looks like she may be paying tribute to the love she shares with husband Michael Cummings. The couple has been married since 1985, and they have one daughter together named Natalie, who was born May 19, 1989. McCormick and her family live in Westlake Village, in California.
McCormick met her husband (also an actor) in church and started to work hard at being sober after their union, though she did still suffer from depression and paranoia. Prior to marrying McCormick struggled with addiction, primarily to cocaine and quaaludes. She even admitted to trading sexual favors for drugs. In addition to her drug addiction, she went on to battle bulimia and depression, which made it difficult for her to sustain a successful career.
According to Fab Celebrity, Cummings quit acting after the birth of the couple’s daughter and moved on to corporate sales, though he did appear on the TV show Castle. You can check out Cummings’ IMDb page by clicking here.
When McCormick gave up drugs, including her prescription of Prozac, all together, husband Cummings told Daily Mail about his wife’s experience, stating that:
When you are on the drugs, the highs are not as high and the lows are not as low, so now she feels the highs and the lows and has learned how better to cope with those emotions as they come along … She was very honest with me from day one. She has always been very honest with me, an open book. And I was never worried about her reverting to her old behavior as I figured, whatever comes up, we will just deal with it … My wife really is an amazingly courageous woman and has taken on some very big monsters in her life and overcome them.
McCormick is currently competing on Dancing With the Stars, opposite pro partner Artem Chigvintsev.
Dancing With the Stars is in its 23rd season, with a ton of contestants left in the cast, hoping to be the 2016 DWTS winner.Click here to read more
