Le Gallo and Adams met during an acting class in Los Angeles. They were in the same class for a year and became friends, but didn’t think of each other in romantic terms for a year. As Adams explained to Vanity Fair in 2008, they were both seeing other people at the time. “I was really focused on the classes—he was a little scared of me,” she said.

However, one weekend, they made a short film together and she finally got to know him outside of class. She explained:

And I just found him to be such a genuine, caring person. And assertive! He demanded that we go out on a date. He said, ‘I know you’re getting over this [other] guy, but I’m taking you out on Wednesday.’ I think that was it exactly. And I was like, ‘And so you are!’ That was six years ago.

Around this time, Adams decided to become a redhead, dying her blond hair. Around that time, Adams’ career also began to take off, as she starred in a TV show called Dr. Vegas with Rob Lowe and a role in Junebug, the film that earned her her first Oscar nomination.

Le Gallo’s own career. didn’t get off the ground in the same way, though. Aside from a couple of appearances on TV shows, he did get a small role in Trouble With The Curve and uncredited part in The Master, two 2012 films starring Adams.

Adams told Marie Claire that the two almost eloped in Las Vegas years ago, but they didn’t want to get married that way.
