The doctors then learn the identity of the man on the table-- Carl Henley, married with two children. The news causes Meredith to think about Derek's death. She then realizes that Gail (the woman who Richard was picturing as the man on the table) is not some made up person, but his mother. Meredith eventually decides to repair part of the patient's liver and use it for his transplant. The procedure works, and as Meredith apologizes to Richard for screaming at him, she begins to pictures Derek, smiling and very-much alive. (ABC/Richard Cartwright)
