WATCH: Kanye West Booed as He Explains Support for Donald Trump

During his performance in San Jose, California, Kanye West stopped his show to go on a 16-minute political rant, which he started by saying he would have voted for Donald Trump if he voted at all. The crowd started booing, but it did not deter West. He kept going, even mentioning a position he would take if he runs for the Oval Office himself in 2020.

“I told you. But if I would have voted, I would have voted on Trump,” West began his rant.

West then went on to say that he has friends who did vote for Hillary Clinton, but he “don’t love them no less because they had their opinion.” He explained to his fans that you can have an opinion about one thing, but it doesn’t mean you can’t support another thing. He said his team told him that he shouldn’t tell people he would have voted for Trump.

“I wanted to say that before the election and they told me, ‘Do not say that out loud. Whatever you do, do not say that,'” West said. “That don’t mean that I don’t think that Black Lives Matter. That don’t mean I don’t think that I’m a believer in women’s rights. That don’t mean I don’t believe in gay marriage. That don’t mean that I don’t believe in these things because that was the guy I would have voted for.”

West said he would bet that 20-30 percent of his audience at the show voted for Trump, and told everyone else that they have the right to express their opinions.

“People got the right to vote for whoever they want to vote for,” he said. “That’s the right to vote! That is our right!”

Later on, West appeared to outline his own potential White House run. Last week, West told the BBC that he’s still thinking about a White House run. He first announced his plans at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.

“I’m concerned about putting our concept of how to do the job in a new way. And if no one will do it in that way I will take position in 2020 and do it myself,’ West said Thursday. “‘Aw you ain’t gonna get it now because of what you just said.’ It was proof that it didn’t matter what nobody just said! It doesn’t matter!”

West insisted that he’s not just talking about 2020 because Trump proved that you don’t need to be a politician to win the White House. He has real ideas and he wants to see the country embrace parties other than Republicans and Democrats.

“I’ll just say I got some ideas about the way that we should connect our ideas,” West said. “And we should use opposite parties that the Republicans, that the Democrats, that everyone that ran that had an idea that people agreed with should be the collective ideas that are used to run the country. And that should mean more.”
