Who Got Voted Off ‘X Factor UK’ Tonight?

Tonight on X Factor UK, Emily Middlemas was voted off the show.

The final two came down to Middlemas and Matt Terry, and both singers gave it their all, fighting for a chance in next week’s Grand Final. Fans said goodbye to the Glasgow singer, and next week, either Saara Aalto, 5 After Midnight, or Matt Terry will be crowned this season’s X Factor champion.

On Saturday, each contestant belted out two songs, fighting for a chance in the finals. Matt Terry opened with his own rendition of the Christmas classic, Silent Night, which was vocally solid but didn’t knock Simon’s socks off. The notoriously tough judge said, “It was a bit predictable. It was a little bit, like having the sandwich without the butter.” Terry’s second performance was Jessie Ware’s Say You’ll Love Me. Once again, Simon found the track a bit bland. Emily Middlemas didn’t totally impress the judges last night, either. She sang John Lennon’s Happy Christmas and Mad World. Louis told the youngin’, “You do the same thing every week. I want to see some more this week because we’re in the semi-final.” Nicole added on, “I felt like something was missing for me. I felt like someone put on the Christmas lights and they weren’t shining bright. That was nice but we need more than nice.”

5 After Midnight kicked their night off with East 17’s Stay Another Day, which Sharon loved. “It brought back loads of memories. Beautiful song choice, just good. It was nice, festive and warm.” Nicole said she’d never heard the song before, but absolutely fell in love with their “delicious” performance. Simon said he found the trio’s performance to be “absolutely fantastic.”

Saara Aalto was the big winner of the night– she stunned with her performance of Sia’s Chandelier. Nicole Scherzinger gushed to the 29-year-old, “This is your song, that you sung that blew me away.” Simon quipped, “Apart from the silly dress, it was absolutely sensational. I admire people who fight.”
